By Ralph Hibble.
We met at Guildford at 8am Bob and Eileen in their very attractive white and blue 2cv named Two Pot. Pam Massey was there with Lesley Cameron in Pam's red 2cv from Queensland. Tom and Lois Newsome drove Ralph's Acadiane Mixte which travelled under the name Canardly. Tom and Lois's friends from the UK Paddy and Andy drove the Newsome 2cv, Burnadebt and Lois's friends Anne and Noelene drove in Ralph n Hanny's 2cv BEANCAN. Geoff and Carol drove their CX. Nan Rossiter from Dongarra led us in her Renault Cleo. She is not driving a Citroën C3 as the local dealer was not interested in finding a blue one for her. Here we gathered for a morning tea break on the way.
The weather was perfect as one would expect for the Queen's birthday long weekend.
The next photo shows Nan and Hanny nearest the camera then behind Nan is Geoff, Carol, Pam and Anne. Behind Hanny is Bob and Eileen and in the background we have Lois, Paddy and Andy.

The reindeer from Raid Laponie travelled with us and viewed the local wildflowers, including the rare enamel orchid and the more common cat's paw. By the way Hanny and I travelled in my business van the AK400 named and licensed as "RAID OZ".

Here we are having a lunch stop at Cervantes after having looked at the Pinnacles. Hanny and I did not go to the Pinnacles because we had our dog Tippy with us and he was not allowed into the National Park. We went inland via a really nice lake the name of which I can't remember. I plan to find it again sometime as it is a great place to camp for a weekend. We got to Dongara and all settled into the house we had rented with four people camped in the backyard the rest of us slept inside. Jurgen Caroline and Janina were already there. On the Sunday John Rossiter and Nan in John's Citroën D led us on a very interesting and colourful tour inland and North to Greenough and Mullewa. We stopped at a river pool for morning tea and Lois, Paddy and Andy went for a swim. 'Twas too cold for me.
We enjoyed a nice cuppa and chat with John filling us in about the local area and all it has to offer. We drove on the Tabletop road and came in to Greenough from the East. Here we had lunch and were serenaded by two fiddlers who managed to get us all round dancing on the village green. We explored the old village building then headed inland to Mullewa where we admired the old church buildings.

Morning tea at the pool, L to R Hanny, Nan, Geoff, Bob Carol, Eileen and Lesley. Jurgen and Caroline drove the GS wagon.

John Rossiter with the Lapland Reindeer. Bob and Nan organised a really good weekend for us, thanks from us all.

On the Monday John advised us of the way to travel home which started with us driving further east and North to Canna. This is a very small village on the Midland Railway. At the only local shop on the verandah under a tin was some photocopy drawings of the local wildflower locations. Put your 20c in the tin.
We found wreath flowers and Kangaroo paws along with many many others along the way. Above is one of the "giant" kangaroo paws that were on the road side.

This was another roadside profusion of wildflowers on the way to Canna. Tippy is checking out the local smells. We travelled back to Perth on the Midlands Highway via Wubin 'n New Norcia. (All photos by Ralph).
